Introduction: Chile's cosmopolitan capital, Santiago, is the starting point for our Andes crossing. High above the Pacific ocean, we cross the border into Argentina and desend into wine country around Mendoza. Our route then runs alongside the Andes until we arrive at colonial Salta, our last stop in Argentina. Crossing the border into Bolivia, we ascend ever higher towards the clouds. Crossing the salt lakes and altiplano, dotted with colonial towns, our journey ends at the dizzying heights of La Paz.
